As a transplant from Australia for just over 15 years now, it is not lost on me how passionate Canadians are about their incredible country.
Having just recently returned from a stint back home visiting my family in Australia I can tell you what it is that I love most about this place, this Whistler in particular, and it may surprise you…
It’s the smell! The air here is so sweet! Sometimes it takes leaving a place to help you gain a fresh perspective but here I pinch myself every day at the beauty that surrounds me and the fortune I have found. I just didn’t realise, until I returned from this last trip, how much the aroma of the lakes and mountains, the trees and the promise of summer ( I swear it’s coming) can be all intoxicating.
So, with Canada Day around the corner and my reinvigorated love for this land fresh in my soul, I asked the rest of the Meg McLean Real Estate Team what it is about Canada that makes their hearts sing:
Meg:
My Fav thing about growing up in Canada was drinking sap from the maple trees when I was out tobogganing with my brother. Water bottles and kids drinking water wasn’t a thing back then. So we would take big drinks from the sap buckets or if the tree was really running – you could drink right from the tap! We would joke that it was the water of the Gods. xoxo
Kristi:
The forests, lakes, mountains and oceans! The four seasons. Cottages, cabins, canoes, hiking and being out in/on the water! From growing up in Ontario to settling down on the West Coast – so much beauty! It takes my breath away living where we live. Extremely grateful for fresh air, clean drinking water and our surroundings. ❤
Liz:
The first word that comes to mind when I think of Canada is GRATEFUL
Grateful for the beauty. From the oceans to the mountains, the lakes to the cities, the snow to the flowers and sunshine.
Grateful for the diversity. Diversity in landscape, weather, and most importantly diversity in people. The acceptance of all people, their beliefs and their aspirations.
Grateful for our freedom. Freedom to be who we want to be.
Grateful for family and the people we meet along the way that become family.
Kristen:
The lakes, ocean, rivers! I love water and all my favorite childhood memories involve the amazing waterways of Canada!
Finding sand dollars on Island beaches, floating down the river in Grand Forks with my cousins, lakeside camping with the family.
So grateful for all Canada’s stunning vistas and natural resources!
So, I think it’s fair to say and no big shock, that the outdoors is what inspires us and generates our fondest memories. It’s what connects us.
What do you love most about where you live – let us know, we love to hear your stories!
