Exploring Hygge (& a Contest!!)

There is a chill in the air and the Meg McLean team have been exploring the concept of Hygge (pronounced hue-guh). The idea comes from a Norwegian word meaning “well being” and it’s a centuries old Scandinavian / Danish concept that is used to describe a moment or feeling that is cozy, special, or charming.  In the Sea to Sky corridor as we face the first signs of snowfall it is a time to look inward and recharge in preparation for colder temperatures. In our newly renovated office we have been creating a Hygge space with the help of candles from one of our favourite local businesses, Hollow Tree.  “Hollow Tree first took root in the remote forests of the Pacific Northwest.  Inspired by the majestic forests, handcrafted in small batches within the coastal mountain temperate rainforests in Whistler.  Hollow Tree is about sharing the love, and the magic of the Pacific West Coast impossible fairy tale forests, with you.  Hollow Tree was created out of a love for British Columbia.  A love cultivated by decades of exploration, adventure, and a never ending wonderment of the BC forests.”  We share the same passion for the spectacular Sea To Sky area and every day we are grateful to assist our clients in realizing their home ownership dreams and finding their Hygge here.  Hollow Tree candles are poured with coconut wax and use plant distilled, non-synthetic oils.  T. Douglas of Hollow Tree tells us “I want Hollow Tree to be something about life. About your surroundings. Our Environment. I want to evoke feelings of happiness, adventure, and joy through scent. A venue to share stories of nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest – to tell stories that move the reader in such a way that you are transported when you light a Hollow Tree Candle.”
